This show is the PREQUEL to their massively successful 2024 Gospel Show – The Southern Gospel Roots of Elvis – The Vegas Years (to get a sense of what you missed if you were not there, check out the video below).
Join this talent-packed Gospel Show following Elvis immersion in the black and white gospel music of Tupelo and Memphis as a youth and teenager – from his attendance at First Assembly of God Church in Tupelo and as the East Trigg Baptist Church under the preaching of Rev. Dr. William Brewster, to the all-night gospel sings of Ellis Auditorium, his first 2 gospel records, the 2nd of which won Elvis his only Grammy award (How Great Thou Art – Best Sacred Performance) and ending with his international presentation of the influence of gospel on rock ‘n roll in the ’68 Comeback Special.
Join Cote Deonath, The Tonettes, The Magi and Memphis Jones as they demonstrate Elvis’ love for gospel music which grounded, uplifted and inspired him. Discover also, how this music informed his music and performances throughout his lifetime. Plus a few surprises.
