About

Families looking for an exciting way to spend March Break are invited to explore the Muskoka Discovery Centre (MDC), where a week of live animal encounters, hands-on science, and interactive learning will bring the wonders of the natural world to life.

From March 18–20, MDC will host three special live presentations featuring wildlife experts and science educators who will introduce visitors to animals from Ontario and around the world.

On Wednesday, March 18, the wildlife educators from Speaking of Wildlife will bring a variety of live Ontario wildlife ambassadors for an up-close and educational experience. Established in 1989, the program provides hands-on wildlife education and gives animals that cannot survive in the wild a permanent sanctuary while helping audiences learn about their unique adaptations, habitats, and environmental challenges. Visitors may meet animals such as owls, turtles, porcupines, or other native species while learning about conservation and the importance of protecting local ecosystems.

On Thursday, March 19, Amanda’s Exotic Animals will introduce audiences to fascinating creatures from around the world. This engaging and interactive presentation highlights reptiles and other exotic species while teaching visitors about animal adaptations, habitats, and responsible stewardship of wildlife.

The week wraps up on Friday, March 20, with a special presentation from Science North featuring two exciting shows: Animal Extravaganza and Mysteries of the Animal Kingdom. These high-energy demonstrations explore the incredible diversity of animals, uncover the secrets behind their behaviours and survival strategies, and invite audiences to discover the science behind the animal world through engaging storytelling and interactive learning.

In addition to these special presentations, families can explore the Muskoka Discovery Centre’s exhibits celebrating the region’s rich heritage, innovation, and connection to the waterways that shaped Muskoka.
