Take the DayTripper to Beausoleil Island for an Unforgettable Muskoka Adventure

Looking for something different to do in Muskoka this summer? Hop on the DayTripper, a Parks Canada boat shuttle that runs from Honey Harbour to Beausoleil Island in Georgian Bay Islands National Park. The ride only takes about 15 minutes, and once you step off the boat, you’re surrounded by incredible scenery, peaceful trails, and some of the clearest water in Ontario.

What You’ll Find on the Island
Beausoleil Island is the heart of the park. It’s full of hiking trails, beaches, bike paths, and lookouts, with more than 25 kilometers of trails to explore. You can rent a mountain bike, go for a swim, or just pack a picnic and take in the views.
There are also camping options if you want to stay the night. From backcountry sites to cozy cabins and oTENTiks, it’s easy to turn your day trip into a full outdoor getaway.

Save While You Explore
From June 20 to September 2, 2025, Parks Canada is offering free admission to all national parks and historic sites, including Georgian Bay Islands. While the DayTripper shuttle and other services still have regular fees, you’ll get 25% off camping, oTENTik, and cabin stays during this time. It’s a great way to explore more for less.

Make the Most of Your Visit
Want to dive a little deeper? You can book a guided hike with a Parks Canada interpreter and learn more about the island’s natural and cultural history. There are hikes for all skill levels, from short shoreline walks to longer routes through remote forest trails. Just make sure to book at least 14 days ahead.
There’s also weekly programming, especially for families. Think hands-on nature games, wildlife spotting, and cultural experiences led by Indigenous knowledge holders. In the evening, you might catch a stargazing session, a storytelling circle, or a bat walk near the Visitor Centre.
Don’t forget to download the free Parks Canada app. It has audio tours you can listen to while you hike, featuring stories from Anishinaabe knowledge keepers that help you connect with the land in a meaningful way.

Plan Your Day
The DayTripper runs seasonally from Friday to Tuesday and spots fill up fast, so booking ahead is a must. It’s the easiest way to get to Beausoleil Island if you don’t have your own boat and a perfect way to experience one of Muskoka’s most unique parks.
Whether you’re hiking, relaxing by the water, or spending the night under the stars, a trip to Georgian Bay Islands National Park is a Muskoka memory in the making.
