About

Join Muskoka Heritage Place at the Rotary Village Train Station on August 8, 2026, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. as they celebrate the 100th birthday of the Portage Flyer train locomotives.

It’s not often that we get to celebrate a one-hundredth birthday, but two of Huntsville’s own are about to hit the century mark! 2026 is the centennial of the iconic Portage Flyer steam locomotives. Built and put into service in 1926, these transportation fixtures of Muskoka and Huntsville have called Muskoka Heritage Place home since 2000.

To mark this significant milestone, Muskoka Heritage Place invites the public to step back in time and be part of this historic celebration. Join us as we commemorate the legacy of these remarkable trains and their enduring place in our community. Bring your family and friends to enjoy our special programming, honouring Huntsville’s rich railway heritage that has inspired and delighted generations of residents and visitors.
