Horse-Drawn Winter Sleigh Rides

Traverse the frosty landscape at Back of Beyond in the comfort of a sleigh, and experience the magical stillness that comes to the forest after it is blanketed in fresh white snow. Bundle up next to your family and let friendly and professional sleigh drivers take you on a winter tour.

  • Cost – $180 plus HST (includes the first two people). Each additional adult is $35 plus HST. Children (3 to 10 years old) are $28 plus HST. Children under 3 years old ride for free.

Aspen Valley Wildlife Centre

  • Come to Aspen Wildlife Centre for Family Day Tours. 100% of tour proceeds go directly towards caring for the animals at Aspen Valley. Book up to 8 weeks in advance.
  • All experiences provide the unique opportunity to see the Sanctuary’s permanent residents, hear their stories, and learn how we can live in harmony with wildlife. Aspen Valley has moose, coyotes, bears, and wolf packs in residence – to name a few of the animals you may meet while on a Guided Tour.

Family Day, with Guided Group Tours at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00 and 11:30. Kids 10 and under are FREE on Family Day – book a tour now!

Winter in Muskoka is anything but sleepy—it’s a season full of festive energy, thanks to its iconic winter carnivals! These events bring communities together for weekends of snowy excitement, cozy charm, and starry nights. Here’s what’s in store:

Dogsledding

Downhill Skiing

  • Discover Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area this Winter! Open mid-December to the end of March for day and night downhill skiing and snowboarding. Offering a snow school, cafeteria, kids camp, childcare, ski & snowboard instruction & rentals, repair shop, retail store and membership opportunities.
  • Enjoy skiing Family Day Weekend, February 13 -15, from 9 am – 9 pm and from 9 am – 4 pm on February 16.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is an inclusive activity for all ages and skill levels and one of the easiest ways to bring the entire family together! Try the skishoe & snowshoe sampler or snowshoe safari at Find Your Wild.  

Camping in MuskokaMuskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, and Arrowhead Provincial Park all have rentals and great trails on-site.

New this winter, guided experiences are available for those who prefer to explore Muskoka alongside a local expert. Frosted Winter Adventures is on now! Choose from a variety of programs, including nighttime stargazing, guided night hikes, snowshoeing adventures, Indigenous experiences, and more.

Ice Skating Trails and Outdoor Rinks

Winter is a beautiful time in Muskoka with endless winter activities. Muskoka boasts several outdoor rinks and 2 skating trails, including being home to the first outdoor skating trail that gained popularity at Arrowhead Provincial Park and at Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery, where you skate around the cranberry bog.

  • Clear Lake BrewingTorrance: A backyard ice rink is a labour of love. Theirs is no different. It’s a ‘family’ project that’s been built and maintained by staff, friends and neighbours. It is open for use (subject to weather & ice conditions) during brewery hours (9 am-8 pm) open to everyone. Learn more
  • Hanna Park Rink: Enjoy free outdoor skating at Hanna Park in Port Carling. This community rink is run entirely by volunteers. The rink is lit until 10:00 p.m. for evening use. Learn more
  • Dwight Beach Skating Trail: A short skating trail located at Dwight Beach. Be safe, lace up your skates, and embrace the cold! Learn more
  • Dwight Outdoor Rink: Outdoor rink, open seasonally and weather dependent. Lighting for evening use. Learn more
  • Baysville Outdoor Rink: At the Dam Outdoor Rink located near the Baysville dam. Learn more
  • Dorset Ice Palace: Outdoor Rink. Maintained by the Township of Algonquin Highlands. Learn more

Algonquin Park’s Winter in the Wild Festival is Saturday, February 14, 2026 — Join them for this family-friendly festival that celebrates winter in Algonquin Park through indoor and outdoor events. Come experience snowshoeing, winter camping, ice skating, bird watching, special guests, and much more. 

Climb Muskoka

Climb Muskoka provides a unique community-focused recreation experience in an inclusive and family-friendly environment. They will inspire people to develop a passion for being physically active and a love for climbing. Open Family Day. 12 pm-10 pm.

Zig Zag Escape Rooms

Zig Zag Escape Room is the only one of its kind in Muskoka, and the first ‘Escape Cabins’ in Canada. Their family games have been specifically designed to engage all ages from 10 and up.
