Families that Play Together, Stay Together!
There is no shortage of winter fun and family memories to be made in our winter wonderland. Bundle up, get active and get outdoors with the whole family this winter break and start making winter memories with your family that will last a lifetime!
Santa Claus has been welcoming guests to his home inside Santa’s Village for the Annual SantaFest. There is only one more weekend remaining, December 22 and 23, so bring the family for one last visit with the big guy. The highlight of meeting the jolly man in red is only part of the festivities, kids also also enjoy cookie decorating, games, face painting, Christmas crafts, carousel rides and more!
Horse Drawn Winter Sleigh Rides
One of our most popular family activities is a horse drawn sleigh or wagon ride through the stunning Muskoka back country. Back of Beyond Equine Centre has a great family package that can accommodate up to 14, and Twin Maples Farm offers wagon rides and carriage rides for up to 16 people at their farm. This is the perfect activity for all ages, from babies to grandparents.
This is an experience the kids will always remember. North Ridge Ranch in Huntsville offers dog sledding excursions all winter long and there is enough room on the trails for the whole family.
Snowshoeing is an inclusive activity for all ages and skill levels and one of the easiest ways to bring the entire family together!
If you want a fun and interactive snowshoeing experience, let a local expert take you into Muskoka’s wondrous back-country with a guided snowshoe tour. These expert adventurers will show you the ropes while providing your group with interesting knowledge and facts only a local could know.
Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area
There is only one place to hit the slopes in all of Muskoka, and families love it here! Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area is a family-friendly hill, challenging enough for the avid skier but plenty of runs for the beginners as well.
A family fat biking adventure might bring back fun memories of teaching your kids how to ride a bike. Now they might be teaching you how to ride a bike … in the snow!
Liv Outside in Bracebridge has fat bike rentals and trails on-site, and Algonquin Outfitters in Huntsville has bikes for rent with trails nearby. Youth fat bikes are available at Algonquin Outfitters for ages 10+, and small fat bikes are available at Liv Outside for ages 12+. Call ahead to reserve the youth fat bikes as there are limited quantities available at both locations.
If you are looking for a new family adventure that is a bit off the beaten path, this is it!
The most Canadian of pastimes! Lace them at the Gravenhurst, Bracebridge or Huntsville arenas during the Tim Hortons Free Holiday Skate this winter break.

Families work together, submerging themselves in the story, solving puzzles, codes, clues and problems and discovering hidden secrets. The family games remain challenging but with a twist to ensure all can remain involved and enthusiastic throughout the adventure. Perfect for ages 10 and up.
