For the week of December 10 – 16, 2018

There are so many things to do and exciting events in Muskoka year-round, and these are just a few of the highlights for this week. For more recommendations, visit the things to do and / or events section on our website.

The time is nigh for winter fun! Arrowhead Provincial Park opens for the season this Friday, December 14, and dog sledding adventures at North Ridge Ranch kick off for their wintry season on December 15.

Looking for a fun activity for the lil’ ones? Drop the kids off at the Kids Only Gift Making Workshop while you get your holiday shopping done. If you prefer a more social shopping experience, check out the Mitts & Mingle Shopping Event happening at The Shipyards, shopping locally for a great cause!

And you don’t want to miss a live show with a special holiday twist when Tommy Youngsteen: Best of Bruce Springsteen takes the stage Peter’s Players this weekend.

Enjoy the shopping, crafts, live music and winter fun!

Mitts & Mingle Shopping Event Fundraiser

Support a great cause and save the tax at the Mitts & Mingle Shopping Event fundraiser, happening on Thursday December 13, 2018 from 4pm – 7:30pm at The Shipyards Muskoka Marketplace. This is a ticketed event ($20 per person) and all sales go towards providing gifts of warmth for children in the community. You can expect TAX-FREE shopping, wine tasting, prizes throughout the night, and sweet and savoury snacks. Get your tickets at The Market Mews, Muskoka Bay Clothing, or Campus Crew at The Shipyards.

Arrowhead Provincial Park

Arrowhead Provincial Park opens for the winter season this Friday, December 14, 2018. Renowned as Muskoka’s winter playground, there are endless opportunities to explore this winter wonderland by ski, snowshoe, tube and ice skates.  Afterwards, warm up by the fireplace in their brand new visitors centre. The park is open from 9am – 5pm daily and often reaches capacity on weekends, so if at all possible go midweek.

There is already a great base of snow in Muskoka so expect the cross country ski and snowshoe trails to be open when the park opens this weekend. The ever popular ice skating trail will need a few more weeks of cold, ice making temperatures before it opens for the season, but the park expects it to be open by the end of December.

If you are located in Toronto, you can catch the Parkbus to Arrowhead Provincial Park on the following dates: January 12, January 26, February 9, February 23, 2019.

Registration is needed and the cost is $60 per child. All supplies are provided by the studio.
