For the week of August 12 – 18, 2019

We’re working for the weekend this week in Muskoka!

Head over to Huntsville on Saturday, August 17, and walk the “Green Carpet” at their Downtown Summer Sale. And, later on, join the folks from Paranormal Muskoka at the Woodchester on Saturday, August 17. Then, Lake of Bays is the place to be on Sunday, August 18, for their annual Antique and Classic Boat and Car Show.

For some weekend-long fun, make your way to the Muskoka Wharf Special Event Park from August 16 to 18, 2019, for the 28th Dockside Festival of the Arts. And, August 17 to 18, be sure to check out the 13th Annual Summer Studio Tour for the Artists of the Limberlost.

Paranormal Muskoka Tour: The Woodchester

Don’t be scared to join Paranormal Muskoka at the Woodchester on Saturday, August 17, for a night of ghostly fun! Learn some of the Woodchester’s history and about its previous owners, the Bird family, while on the lookout for spirits and more. The tour will run from 7pm until roughly 8:30 pm, but be sure to arrive around 10-minutes early, to ensure there are no time delays – afterall, the dead don’t like to be kept waiting.

Huntsville Downtown Summer Sale

Head over to Huntsville on Saturday, August 17, so you can get yourself some sweet steals at their Downtown Summer Sale. Running from 9am to 5pm, the scenic shops of the main street will be bursting out into the street, offering you all kinds of fantastic deals, accompanied by family-fun activities and live music!

Plus, they’re “rolling out the green carpet” for all the attendees with their Green Street Challenge, which involves laying down sod along the Main street to make Huntsville come alive outside – it’s a sight to see before it’s rounded up and donated at the end of the event.

Lake of Bays Antique & Boat Show

Lake of Bays is the place to be on Sunday, August 18, for their annual Antique and Classic Boat and Car Show. Hosted in beautiful downtown Baysville, the event will run from 12pm to 4pm and feature all kinds of antique and classic cars and trucks, as well as the historic  S.S. Bigwin, a 109-year-old steamship that once ferried to and from the famed Bigwin Island.

Plus, Northern Lights Steel Orchestra Band will be playing and, at 4pm, the Bag Piper Sharon Mace will pipe out the procession of boaters as the events grand finale. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to the Winter Pantry Food Support Program.

Limberlost Artists Weekend

This weekend, August 17 to 18, check out the 13th Annual Summer Studio Tour for the Artists of the Limberlost, and see how the rugged landscape of the Canadian Shield continues to inspire our artists. This year you’ll be able to meet 17 artists at 6 locations (all within a short drive of each other), and get to see nature-inspired pottery, jewelry, fiber art, sculpture, paintings in many styles and media, and functional art crafted from local wood.
