The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is coming to Huntsville on January 23 & 24th 2018!

Once again, we are proud to feature the world’s best mountain sport, culture and environmental films, letting you experience the thrill and challenges of the mountain environments that inspire us all.
This year’s screenings feature the world’s best mountain sport, culture and environmental films, letting you experience the thrill and challenges of the mountain environments that inspire us all. The Banff Mountain Film Festival is the most prestigious mountain festival in the world. Right after the festival, held every fall in Banff, Alberta, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour starts to travel the globe with stops in about 450 communities and 40 countries.
The 2018 World Tour features an exhilarating and provocative collection of films that explore the mountain world, highlighting new landscapes and remote cultures, and exposes audiences to exciting adventures and adrenaline-packed sports.
We are excited to host this amazing event once again at Bayview Wildwood Resort! Last year, we raised over $95,000 benefiting Sarcoma Cancer Research! Congratulations to everyone that made this possible.
This year we have a goal of $125,000!
The Taylor Cup is a two-day round robin tournament with playoffs, that takes hockey back to the basics … on a frozen patch of lake. Teams take to the ice at the Bayview Wildwood Resort on Sparrow Lake, just north of Orillia, in a 4 on 4 format, January 26th – January 28th, 2018. The money raised will benefit Sarcoma Research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
*ONCE AGAIN THIS YEAR* Each team member must raise a minimum of $100 toward their team’s fundraising minimum of $1000 and we will be having a WOMEN’S DIVISION!
Author Andrea Baston will speak about her latest book – Exile Air: World War II’s Little Norway in Toronto and Muskoka. She will talk about writing the book that tells the story of the young Norwegian recruits who came to Canada during WWII as members of the Royal Norwegian Air Force. Hear stories of patriotism, bravery and sacrifice.
The Recharge with Milk Ontario Tankard is the annual event that will determine the Ontario Men’s Provincial Curling Champion. The winner of the 2018 Recharge with Milk Tankard will represent Team Ontario at the Tim Hortons Brier in Regina Saskatchewan, March 3-11, 2018.
The Huntsville Curling Club is proud to host the 2018 Tankard at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, Ontario from January 31st to February 4th 2018. There will be 12 teams from across Ontario who will compete in the Tankard. Qualifying teams will be decided through 3 provincial qualifiers, and a challenge round, with the top two teams in Ontario, based on total points accrued during the 2018/18 curling season, will automatically qualify.
With the addition of 2 more teams to the Tankard this year the format will change. There will be an exciting 5 day format with a triple-knock-out starting with games at 2:30 on Wednesday January 31st through Friday February 2nd. The finals will be played on the weekend and will remain the same with the top four teams making the playoffs, in which the page playoff system will be used.
In addition to Ontario’s best Curling the event will host the Ontario Special Olympics final game as well as the Hit Tap Draw contest on Saturday February 3rd. Come and join us in Moosie’s Lounge for great food and entertainment all week conveniently located next to the Canada Summit Centre at the Active Living Centre.
