Introducing Robert McAffee
His paintings portray an intimate vision of the Canadian wilderness that’s alive, brooding and rhythmic. With their backdrop of endless northern skies, his canvasses sing with poetic vigour and blaze with the vibrant colours of nature. A self-taught artist Robert has been inspired by inspired by Tom Thomson, Jack Reid and Claude Monet.
“I’ve always had a desire to draw and paint our country’s forest landscape. It’s in my bones,” says Robert McAffee. “This passion has taken me from the North Shore of Lake Superior, to the four corners of Algonquin Park, and from Canada’s Rocky Mountains to the scenic highlands of Quebec’s Gatineau Park”.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is the most prestigious mountain festival in the world. Right after the festival, held every fall in Banff, Alberta, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour starts to travel the globe with stops in about 450 communities and 40 countries.
The 2018 World Tour features an exhilarating and provocative collection of films that explore the mountain world, highlighting new landscapes and remote cultures, and exposes audiences to exciting adventures and adrenaline-packed sports.

The Taylor Cup is a two-day round robin tournament with playoffs, that takes hockey back to the basics … on a frozen patch of lake. Teams take to the ice at the Bayview Wildwood Resort on Sparrow Lake, just north of Orillia, in a 4 on 4 format, January 26th – January 28th, 2018. The money raised will benefit Sarcoma Research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

She will talk about writing the book that tells the story of the young Norwegian recruits who came to Canada during WWII as members of the Royal Norwegian Air Force. The Recharge with Milk Ontario Tankard is the annual event that will determine the Ontario Men’s Provincial Curling Champion. The winner of the 2018 Recharge with Milk Tankard will represent Team Ontario at the Tim Hortons Brier in Regina Saskatchewan, March 3-11, 2018.
The Huntsville Curling Club is proud to host the 2018 Tankard at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, Ontario from January 31st to February 4th 2018. There will be 12 teams from across Ontario who will compete in the Tankard. Qualifying teams will be decided through 3 provincial qualifiers, and a challenge round, with the top two teams in Ontario, based on total points accrued during the 2018/18 curling season, will automatically qualify.
With the addition of 2 more teams to the Tankard this year the format will change. There will be an exciting 5 day format with a triple-knock-out starting with games at 2:30 on Wednesday January 31st through Friday February 2nd. The finals will be played on the weekend and will remain the same with the top four teams making the playoffs, in which the page playoff system will be used.
In addition to Ontario’s best Curling the event will host the Ontario Special Olympics final game as well as the Hit Tap Draw contest on Saturday February 3rd. Come and join us in Moosie’s Lounge for great food and entertainment all week conveniently located next to the Canada Summit Centre at the Active Living Centre.

This special live event features host Steve Patterson and two of his favourite comics, Arthur Simeon and Erica Sigurdson, performing stand-up and a hilarious debate, in a format familiar to hundreds of thousands of loyal Canadian fans of the radio show.
STEVE PATTERSON has been a professional headliner since 1997 and has taped numerous national television specials in the past decade including four Just For Laughs galas. His performance in 2010 earned him a Gemini nomination and caused host Steve Martin afterwards to exclaim “If I’d have known he was going to be THAT good, I would have cancelled him.” Following that performance, Patterson was twice named Best Male Stand-up Comedian at the Canadian Comedy awards and most recently has been nominated for the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards as Host on HGTV’s I Wrecked My House. Steve’s nationally toured and award nominated theatre show entitled This is Not Debatable is now available on itunes and his Book of Letters I Didn’t Know Where to Send is now available in book stores. Steve latest role as a budding producer with his show The Smartass-ociates, making smart people funnier and funny people smarter.
