The Cranberry Ice Trail is a very popular winter attraction, perhaps because it is the only skating trail in Canada with an on-site winery. Skate hand-in-hand before warming up by the outdoor fire with a mug of hot-mulled wine. If you are looking for something really magical, they light 400+ tiki torches on Saturday nights for a lit-up skate under the stars.

Snowshoeing

Find a snowshoe trail and head out together for this exhilarating and time-tested winter activity. A number of our winter resorts have snowshoe trails and rentals on-site so you can stay and play at one location.

One Horse Open Sleigh Rides

Bundle up and take a magical sleigh ride through a winter wonderland. Back of Beyond Equine Centre offers romantic rides for two in their cozy sleigh. Enjoy a mug of hot chocolate by the campfire after your sleigh ride.

If you are looking for a sleigh ride straight out of a fairy tale, inquire about their romantic evening sleigh ride. A night-time sleigh ride, where the only light on the trail comes from torches, candles and the starry night sky.

Dinner and a Skate

Bracebridge is redefining ‘night on the town’ with their downtown skating trail. Start your evening off with dinner for two before heading over to Memorial Park for an evening skate under the stars. Or go for a skate first and finish your evening with a sweet dessert and specialty coffee. The Old Station Restaurant is a local favourite and is only 100m from the park. Star Gazing

You don’t realize how beautiful the stars are until you get out of the city and see them for yourself. On clear nights, it is likely that you will be able to see the wondrous constellations from most parts of Muskoka as they dance around the night sky. If you want to take your stargazing up a notch, visit the Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve, the first dark sky preserve in Canada.

Just because summer is over doesn’t mean that s’mores need to stop. Many of our resorts keep the fire going throughout the winter so you can enjoy this cottage treat year-long.
