About Muskoka Tourism
Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency is a not-for-profit membership-based association funded by the District of
Muskoka and the private sector.
History
Muskoka Tourism evolved from a tourism association that was established 70 years ago to promote Muskoka as a
vacation destination. It was known as the Muskoka Tourist Association (MTA) but in 1984 it became the Muskoka
Tourism Marketing Agency (MTMA).
Mandate
Muskoka Tourism's mandate is to provide the leadership role for tourism marketing in Muskoka,
representing the interests of all stakeholders. In doing so, it provides three main services:
Visitor Services; Membership Services; and Marketing Services.
Visitor Services
Muskoka Tourism operates two travel information centres, one located on Highway 11 North of Severn Bridge in
Kilworthy and a second location at Highway 400 at Port Severn.
Muskoka Tourism provides information services to potential visitors through the internet, phone
inquires, email inquiries and walk-in traffic.
Membership and Marketing Services
As a not-for-profit membership association, Muskoka Tourism is supported by many tourism operators
and businesses committed to showcasing Muskoka as a premiere four-season vacation destination.
Muskoka Tourism provides its members the opportunity to participate in co-operative, integrated marketing programs,
such as the Muskoka Vacation Guide, Muskoka Map, Spring/Fall brochure distribution, trade/consumer shows and
other marketing programs funded in combination with the public sector.
