Platinum selling Canadian Classic rock band, Honeymoon Suite will be performing Live at The KEE on Saturday October 7th. The group, which cranked out a number of popular songs in the 1980s, will be performing them over the Thanksgiving long weekend at The Kee.
Johnnie Dee and Derry Grehan, the principal and founding members of Honeymoon Suite, met when introduced by manager Stephen Prendergast in 1982. Deciding to work together, they formed Honeymoon Suite with Grehan’s former Steve Blimkie And The Reason’ band-mate Dave Betts on drums, plus an anonymous keyboard player and bassist.
In 1983 they decided to enter the Homegrown Contest put on yearly by Toronto’s Q107-FM radio station so Prendergast approached his friend and producer Tom Treumuth to produce a song for them. Based on the buying public’s response, “New Girl Now” won the contest and Bob Roper at WEA Canada was so impressed with the song and response that he signed the band right away.
By blending introspective lyrics with soaring melodies, driving percussive elements with solo cello and layered guitar with an unexpected twist, Meagan Ballantyne and Clynton O’brien deliver a unique experience with their band “Authentic Imperfection.”
All songs are completely original and carefully crafted to invoke a dark and intimate, yet equally uplifting environment. The goal is to leave the listener with a sense of realism as if to say, “Yes there are many challenges to life, but somehow you know, it will all work out in the end and you are not alone in this.”

The definition of a rebel is someone who goes against the grain. For close to thirty years now, Blue Rodeo has taken the road less travelled – and succeeded far beyond anyone’s expectations. The band emerged in the early 80’s as a countrified rock band in the era of hair metal and glossy pop. Despite sticking out like a sore thumb (or maybe because of it), their single “Try” became omni-present on radio across Canada and set in motion a three decade long career of headlining every club, theatre and arena in Canada. In 1993, when grunge rock was squeezing commercial rock off the radio, they recorded their most acoustic album, Five Days In July, and scored their biggest hit selling over a half million copies of that one record alone.
Fans of 1970’s pop music will remember “Only Yesterday” by The Carpenters, one of the best selling artists of all time. Karen and Richard Carpenter had a distinctively soft musical style with incredibly warm vocals and wonderful piano artistry. Come out and relive the music of The Carpenters with amazing costumes and dynamic onstage performances by Bruce Tournay and Heather Christine singing “We’ve Only Just Begun”, “Rainy Days and Mondays”, “Top of the World” and many more!
